Hello, my dear readers! Today, I am thrilled to share with you the enchanting experience I had in Barcelona, Spain, with my beloved husband, Pedro. This impromptu trip turned out to be one of the most amazing adventures of our lives. Barcelona captured our hearts with its vibrant energy, rich culture, and stunning architecture. So, let’s dive into the unforgettable moments we had in this beautiful city.

Why Barcelona?

Our journey to Barcelona was an unplanned decision that quickly unfolded into a dream come true. With a new job offer in hand, and only a week gap before starting it, Pedro and I seized the opportunity for an impromptu getaway. Barcelona, a city often compared to Rio de Janeiro, enticed us with its Brazilian vibes and captivating allure.

Flying High with Easyjet:

Although the trip was last-minute and during a busy holiday period, we managed to secure our seats on Easyjet, a budget-friendly airline. The flight was short and comfortable, allowing me to unwind with my favorite Spotify playlist before dozing off to dreamland.

A Dreamy Hotel Stay:

Our luck prevailed when we found the Hotel Catalonia La Sagrada Família. Despite the last-minute arrangements, the hotel offered everything we could have wished for – a convenient location, easy access to tourist spots, proximity to the beach, and a nearby metro station. Our room provided ample space, although we found ourselves spending more time exploring the city’s wonders.

Navigating Barcelona’s Charm:

Like our experiences in London, Pedro and I embraced the convenience of Uber and the metro for our travels in Barcelona. However, the city’s preference for Cabify instead of Uber surprised us. Nevertheless, we enjoyed hopping on and off the metro, effortlessly exploring the nooks and crannies of this fascinating city.

Mesmerized by La Boqueria:

One of the highlights of our trip was undoubtedly La Boqueria, a bustling market teeming with global delights. This lively spot won us over with its friendly ambiance and mouthwatering array of fruits and fresh juices. I couldn’t resist the Brazilian stall’s savory pastéis and coxinhas, making it a feast of flavors from around the world.

Awe-Inspiring La Sagrada Família:

Visiting La Sagrada Família was a must, and it exceeded our expectations. The architecture and history behind this iconic church left us in awe. We wisely booked our tickets online to avoid queues, and being inside this masterpiece felt surreal. Barcelona’s skyline wouldn’t be complete without this marvel.

A Colorful Adventure at Park Güell:

Our hearts soared at Park Güell, where Gaudí’s creativity burst into vibrant colors and whimsical designs. Every wall was a canvas of enchantment, providing a perfect backdrop for countless Instagram-worthy photos. Our only regret was not arriving 15 minutes earlier, as we got caught up in the park’s charm.

Capturing Memories with Casa Milà and Casa Batlló:

While we admired Casa Milà and Casa Batlló from the outside, we still savored the opportunity to capture these architectural gems in photos. The lines were long, but our early arrival rewarded us with some beautiful snapshots.

A Rooftop Romance at Barcelona Cathedral:

Barcelona Cathedral offered an unforgettable experience, particularly its rooftop. The view from the top was breathtaking, showcasing Barcelona’s beauty in every direction. The rooftop’s romantic ambiance inspired a whimsical and heartfelt Tumblr-style photo, a memory we’ll cherish forever.

Embracing the Sea at Barcelona’s Beaches:

As a beach lover, Barcelona’s sandy shores beckoned me. It had been two years since I last saw the sea, and the moment I set my eyes on those clear waters, I felt pure bliss. While I dipped my feet in the cool waves, I couldn’t help but smile and embrace the liberating atmosphere, as women sunbathed topless, embracing their freedom.

Culinary Delights at Can Solé:

Among the numerous cafes we explored, Can Solé stands out as the most memorable dining experience. This charming restaurant offered a truly authentic Spanish experience. The delectable paella, served in a massive pan, and the warm hospitality from the waiter added a special touch to the night.
